Reactive Recruitment are proud to be working with a reputable national business that provide solutions to the livestock farming industry. Due to progression, they require an experienced Transport Coordinator to work from their Portbury Docks site in Bristol.

Package & Hours:

  • A starting salary of £36,725pa
  • Regular overtime available paid x 1.5
  • A 40 hour week working on a 0600-1400 then 1000-1800 rotating basis
  • Every 2nd Saturday with a day off in lieu

Vacancy Overview:

A Transport Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of deliveries and collections across the South of the UK. Working closely with the Transport Manager, Planning teams, Production, and Facilities. Providing support for a smooth, reliable service to both internal and external stakeholders. The role centres around coordinating both fleet and associated subcontractors, executing the transport plan, aligned with operational targets, customer needs ensuring full compliance.

Vacancy Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day transport activity, ensuring scheduled deliveries are completed on time and in full.
  • Complete driver de-briefs, ensuring all paperwork is accurate, concise, and correctly filed.
  • Use transport systems including Ortec, Flexipod, Volvo Connect, and SAP.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly to maintain the highest level of customer service.

Coordination/Planning:

  • Work closely with Transport Planners to support the creation of effective transport plans.
  • Ensure adequate resource is available and communicate any delays or issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide absence relief for the planning team, routing vehicles, allocating driver resources, and planning deliveries in line with transport and UFAS legislation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and customer service teams to optimise utilisation of operational assets.

Driver/Haulier Engagement

  • Support the Driver Assessor with training needs and initiatives aimed at improving driver performance.
  • Liaise with third-party hauliers to ensure delivery performance standards are met.
  • Strengthen communication with drivers and mill planners to improve operational efficiency.

Admin, Performance & Compliance:

  • Drive continuous improvement of OTIF performance and report any failings to the Transport Manager.
  • Build strong relationships with key service providers and support the Transport Manager in managing vehicle repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Assist the Transport Manager with general administrative tasks as required
  • Create purchase order requests and receipt goods using the P2P system.
  • Carry out driver and vehicle gate checks to ensure compliance.
  • Report health & safety incidents and behavioural observations.

Skills & Experience Requirements:

  • A strong background in transport including coordination, planning and legislation where possible.
  • The ability to interact and communicate well with colleagues including the driving staff.
  • Also the ability to liaise with internal and external contacts.
  • Good level of legislation knowledge/experience – CPC qualification would be advantageous.
